Join me (Camille Saunders) for a magical evening of Tarot Card Creation! I will lead you through the process of crafting your own tarot cards and you'll come away from this event with a start to your collection. Come and hang out with other witches, do some crafting, indulge your creativity, and talk tarot! No experience with tarot or tarot card creation necessary.  

My preferred supplies are:

- index cards or paper of some kind for background of your cards

- collage materials

- markers/colored pencils/pens/anything to color with

- glue sticks

- scissors

I create my cards by collaging on index cards. I encourage you to break out whatever craft supplies you'd like to create your own tarot card style. I have gone to the dollar store and found index cards, markers, stickers, scissors, and gluesticks which are my preferred crafting materials. I use old magazines and art books I found at Goodwill for my collage materials. You can certainly use printer paper or any other larger paper you have to create your cards as well, they just might be harder to shuffle! If you have a laminator that's a great way to preserve your cards and for ease of shuffling. I'll show you some of the cards I've created on video during the event so you get an idea. 

Spring Equinox is a time of hope, of renewal, of thoughtful preparation for the upcoming season of activity and manifestation. Lets talk about the elemental energy, the myth and magic, and of course the plants, herbs and seasonal foods of this time. From Persian water goddess Anahita to the Frog Dress lichen bathing ritual, we dot the globe talking about what spring means to us spiritually, and how we can bring seasonal blessings into our everyday lives.

When life hands you dirt, plant seeds! Tonight is all about seed starting. If you’ve struggled to grow from seed during past seasons, or are starting seeds for the first time this year, this meeting is for you. We’ll cover which seeds to start indoors & which to direct sow, as well as some tips to help you have the best germination rate.

Bug Stuff w/ Marie

Come learn how to promote biodiversity in your garden by creating insect habitat. From bee hotesl to bug snugs, we’ll go over all the ways you can provide a warm welcome for the tiny creatures that forage and nest in your green spaces.

Tonight we’re back with another DHC Social Hour. In addition to our usual hang out, I’ll spend some time talking about the DHC and what we’re all about. If you’ve never been to a meeting or wonder how to dip your toe in, this is the one to join. No pressure to have a camera or mic on…just come hang out and participate as much or as little as you’d like!

In honor of sakura (cherry blossom) season, we will be delving into the amazing world of veggie-forward Japanese food and culture! Join us to learn about rolling your own sushi, learning new techniques to incorporate abundant tomatoes and peppers into dishes, building a bowl of ramen from scratch, how to add depth of flavor to your broths, and growing, purchasing, or foraging your own ingredients to build veggie-forward Japanese dishes at home.

We will discuss everything from seasonal living and eating, Japan’s 72 micro seasons, tsukemono (pickled things), edible flowers, to how the principle of five impacts building a meal. There will also be book and resource recommendations, recipe-sharing, show and tell with some fun kitchen gadgets, a Q&A, and a live sushi + inarizushi making demo at the end.

Coloring and Cards with Dalena

Dalena is sharing with us a page from her friend @elaineinthemembrane 's Autum/Halloween coloring book she has created. Elaine is a local artist here in Springfield Missouri and has created three coloring books and lots of cute art, specializing in pet portraits.

While we relax into some seasonal coloring, we will also do some card readings. Dalena will pull a card for the group and offer some individual readings. Everyone is welcome to participate, so feel free to bring along a deck or two of your choosing to share with us. Tarot, Oracle, and other card divinations welcome.

The only supplies needed for this call is coloring utensils and your free coloring page. You can get the free page a few different ways, 1. Head over to our DHC discord and pick out the exact one you want (located in the dhc-meetings channel) or 2. DM @snailsandshrooms on Instagram requesting one, or 3. just click the link below to send Dalena an email and she will send you a surprise one.

No access to a printer? No problem, we can mail you one, just include your address in the request message. But you have to act fast to make sure the mailperson gets it to you in time!

DIY Guide to Building a Hugelkulture Herb Spiral w/ Jacqui

During this call we'll go over some basics of using the hügelkultur method of passive composting and discuss if this project will suit your garden. There are so many design varieties and options for you to customize to compliment your space. No yard? No problem! You can even build this project on a smaller scale in a planter. We'll also discuss the magic of herb spirals with their ability to maximize space, create coordinated plant communities, allow you to enjoy their aesthetic beauty as modeled by the fibonacci sequence, their ability to transform a space and elevate a garden bed (literally) with witchy vibes, and more.

This call will have plenty of tips and tricks shared after building one by putting a digital design and theory into practice. We'll discuss site assessment, design and material considerations, seasonality, and more. This project was the perfect way to celebrate the samhain season in the garden by incorporating "fall cleanup" into the spiral design to leave more leaves, logs, and sticks right on site in the garden - maybe you'll even be inspired to build one this autumn.
